Explorer View of Outlook is an outstanding add-on application to use with Microsoft Outlook that will allow you to preview documents in a lot of different formats, without leaving Microsoft Outlook and, what it’s even more surprising, without the need to have the software with which the document was created installed in your system. Not only preview, you will also be able to copy and paste information, and print out documents right from the attachments.
Among the most important formats Explorer View of Outlook can preview, we can mention the following: Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, .DWG, Excel, .PDF, and many more.
So, how does this application work? All you are going to see of it it’s a new toolbar button on your Outlook toolbar, with the name of Explorer View. This button is a drop-down menu, which displays the following options:
- Preview Pane: select the position from right and bottom, or deactivate the preview pane.
- Options: it opens a multi-tabs options dialog. You can configure some parameters regarding general operation, text, multimedia, HTML, CAD and email contents.
- Update: it triggers an update wizard which automatically checks the web site for available updates.
- Help: it displays some information about the operation of the application.
When you activate the preview pane of Explorer View, this replaces the standard preview pane of Microsoft Outlook for reading emails. You can go back to the original state by deactivating the preview pane of Explorer View. When the pane is activated it will automatically recognize the file type from its contents and will display the information, fast and efficiently.
